Learning is earning. At least that’s the case with personal finance. And Reddit is one of my go-to places for money advice. There’s a ton of great information here, if you know where to look. And because of that, I want to share the five best investing subreddits.

Some of these are pretty popular to a general audience (so there’s a good chance you’ve heard of them before). While others are a bit more obscure, and stumbling on these is like finding buried treasure.

Alright, that’s enough build up. Let’s dive in.

1. r/Investing

This is the most mainstream and well-known personal finance subreddit. As such, I think r/investing actually gets overlooked by many as being common sense or beginner advice.

But that’s true at all.

There’s a lot of great knowledge here. And you can often search the subreddit for particular stock tickers and businesses. This will often bring up interesting, in-depth discussing and detailed analysis.

Whether you’re a complete newbie or seasoned investor, there’s something here for everyone.

2. r/Wallstreetbets

I like this subreddit for its jokes and politically incorrect humor. When it comes to long-term investment advice, look elsewhere.

Wallstreetbets is all about short-term trading. So why is it on the list? Two reasons: you can learn a lot about current market events, and you get a great “case against trading” with lots of posters losing their shirts on risky plays.

I really think the humor and fun atmosphere elevates Wallstreetbets and makes it a great place for learning about what’s going on in the market right now.

3. r/fatFIRE

Financially Independent, Retired Early is a somewhat popular Internet acronym. The only problem (in my opinion)? Many participants aim too low!

With fatFire things are different. Posters here are working hard to become multimillionaires with a steady stream of residual income that’ll give them hundreds of thousands of dollars for life. Because of this, you’re going to see a lot of great advice about both investments and business.

Also, this is one of the best investing subreddits in terms of pure motivation alone. Well worth a view.

4. r/Povertyfinance

Here’s a complete 180 from the previous subreddit. The advice on Povertyfinance is geared towards people with low-incomes, high lifestyle costs, and virtually no savings.

In other words, you learn how to build wealth even if you earn very little (minimum wage) or are drowning in debt.

If you’re looking for a way to escape the cycle of living paycheck to paycheck, this is your subreddit.

5. r/Cryptocurrency

A great place for all things crypto. I’ve gotten a lot of hot tips from here, and use this subreddit for the majority of my BitCoin news.

If you’re looking for alt coins, or want to know what BitCoin innovations are underway, join r/Cryptocurrency.

There’s a lot of good information on here, and it pairs well with the other investing subreddits. A great place for anyone curious about digital assets.
